I went on my semi-annual tour of some of our local antique malls today, and as usual, found a few vintage dolls for sale - mostly Patti Playpal, Revlon, Barbie types.  What impressed me the most however, was the poor condition of these dolls.  Never ceases to amaze me, to find them for sale in antique malls in what looks to be the same condition they were found in - dirty, dusty, neglected looking.  Not even their hair was combed.  What a shame.  You would think their temporary owners would at least make an attempt to clean them up, comb their hair, and possibly redress them if needed, or at least launder and repair their clothes.

Now I've got a whole roomful of dolls to fix up myself, so I know it takes time, but hopefully the dolls will be presentable when I do put them up for resale!
I know what you mean Jane Ellen---just look at some of the filthy dolls on Ebay. Just a simple damp cloth on a plastic doll, or a simple dusting and arranging of clothing can make a world of difference.

On the other hand, as a buyer---bring it on!  I know how to make that ratty looking doll shine, and still keep the "loved look---or at least I'm trying to learn.  I figure if I need to negotiate a price, it's a point in my favor!  Did I say negotiate???  I'm terrible at it and usually end up paying full price, but at least this is one thing I can point to when I say "she seems a bit overpriced for her condition!"  Just me :)!
